Voyage Ultimate 2024 Melodic Techno & House Sample Pack
Voyage is The Producer School's melodic techno and house producer pack, built to meet the current standard of modern melodic techno productions. This overview walks through the full contents of the pack - including over 110 Serum presets, a sample pack with loops, drums and effects, three DAW project files, a vocal pack, and MIDI-included bass and synth loops - with live demonstrations of the key sounds throughout.
What Is Included in the Voyage Sample Pack?
Voyage is a comprehensive melodic techno and house producer pack designed for modern productions in this genre. The pack contains over 110 Serum presets organized into categories including basses, leads, pads, plucks, bass steps, and synths. There are three full project files for FL Studio, Ableton Live, and Logic Pro, so you can open a complete melodic techno track in your preferred DAW, study the arrangement, and draw inspiration directly from the session. The sample pack includes drum loops (hi-hat loops, percussion loops, shaker loops, and top loops), individual drum hits (kicks, claps, closed and open hi-hats, snares, and toms), effect samples (atmospheres, drones, risers, down-lifters, impacts, sweeps, and uplifters), bass and synth loops with MIDI included, and a vocal pack with reverse vocals, vocal atmospheres, hooks, and spoken words with dry stems included.
- 110+ Serum presets: basses, bass steps, leads, pads, plucks, synths
- 3 project files: FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro
- Sample pack: drum loops, individual hits, effects, atmospheres
- Bass and synth loops with MIDI files included
- Vocal pack: hooks, spoken words, atmospheres, reverse vocals (with dry stems)
What Are the Best Bass Presets in Voyage?
The bass presets in Voyage cover a wide range from deep rolling subs to rhythmic top bass layers. The Arch preset is a straightforward saw bass that works perfectly for rolling melodic techno baselines - both oscillators have random phase set to zero, meaning every note starts from the same position for a clean, consistent sound that sidechains neatly with the kick. Chase is a wider bass suited to use as a top or mid bass, with low-end removal available via Macro 4. Godfather is a fat, sustained bass you can open up with the mod wheel. Rights was inspired by a warm, saturated release on the Inner Visions label and works well for sustained melodic baselines. Suspect is a rhythmic top bass you can hear in modern melodic techno productions, and using OTT via Macro 3 adds extra punch. All bass presets include macro controls to adjust the sound directly from the preset.
- Arch: rolling saw bass, random phase zero, clean for sidechaining
- Chase: wider top/mid bass, low cut via Macro 4
- Godfather: fat sustained bass, mod wheel opens cutoff
- Rights: warm, saturated, sustained - Inner Visions-inspired
- Suspect: rhythmic top bass, Macro 3 adds OTT punch
How to Use the Bass Step Presets in Your Productions
Bass steps are a defining element of modern melodic techno, and Voyage includes 10 bass step presets. These are rhythmic, stuttering bass sounds with built-in modulation that create movement and energy without needing a complex MIDI pattern. The Burning preset is inspired by the anima-style bass step sound and can be opened with the mod wheel or a macro. The Exit preset responds well to frequency modulation increases via Macro 2, which transforms it from a standard step into a more aggressive, stabbing sound. Terror is one of the more aggressive bass step options in the pack, while Vortex offers a different rhythmic texture. Bass steps work especially well when automated - automating the filter cutoff or the modulation macros over time gives these sounds a sense of evolving energy throughout your arrangement.
- 10 bass step presets total
- Burning: anima-inspired, open with mod wheel or macro
- Exit: increase FM via Macro 2 for aggressive stab character
- Terror: aggressive and punchy
- Tip: automate filter cutoff or macros to create evolving energy in the arrangement
What Lead and Pad Sounds Does Voyage Offer?
The lead presets range from atmospheric and dreamy to aggressive super saw leads. Attract was inspired by a lead sound used in modern melodic techno productions and has a sharp, driving quality. Dream is more atmospheric with a lush, evolving character. Elements works particularly well with pitch bend modulation applied live or drawn in. Empire is a big super saw lead suited for larger, more climactic moments in a track. Explorer features LFO and pitch modulation that makes it ideal as an FX lead - if you want to remove the pitch modulation, Macro 3 disables it. Generate and Genesis are both super saw options, with Genesis carrying a heavily Anima-inspired character. The pad presets include Art, which has a deep and immersive quality, Away, inspired by the sounds of the Italian duo M against B, and Block Kelly, which has a brighter, more upfront character. These pads work well either as sustained background textures or as the primary harmonic element of a track.
- Leads: Attract, Dream, Elements (pitch bend), Empire (super saw), Explorer (LFO pitch), Generate, Genesis (Anima-inspired)
- Pads: Art, Away (M against B-inspired), Block Kelly
- Tip: Explorer's pitch modulation can be turned off via Macro 3
How to Use the Pluck and Synth Presets Effectively
The pluck and synth categories in Voyage are designed for melodic techno and house contexts where these sounds often serve as melodic hooks or rhythmic chord patterns. The Pluck Deno preset works particularly well for arpeggios - its modulation on the oscillator fine tune creates a lush, shimmering quality. Plug Moment works well as a chord layer or a top pluck melody. For the synths, Asa is effective for playing fast chord steps with a gate-style rhythm. Habitat works well with very fast arpeggio notes drawn in via MIDI, producing a stuttering, fast-moving chord effect. Move has its own built-in rhythmic character. Spacey works particularly well when you use the root note of your track and add a perfect fifth on top, then create a repeating pattern - this is a standard technique in modern melodic techno for building atmospheric, hypnotic synth layers without a complex melody.
- Pluck Deno: fine tune modulation, lush arpeggios
- Plug Moment: chords or top melody
- Asa: fast chord steps with gate-style rhythm
- Habitat: stuttering fast arpeggio chords via MIDI
- Spacey: root note + perfect fifth - repeating pattern for atmospheric layers
What Sample and Vocal Content Is in the Voyage Pack?
Beyond the Serum presets, the Voyage sample pack covers all the production essentials for melodic techno. Drum loops are split into hi-hat loops, percussion loops, shaker loops, and top loops. Individual drum hits include claps, closed and open hi-hats, kicks, snares, toms, and percussion sounds, plus a range of shorter and longer drum fills. The effects folder contains ambient sounds for layering under your tracks, texture atmospheres and drone sounds, down-lifters, impacts, risers, short sweeps, and uplifters. The vocal pack includes reverse vocals, vocal atmospheres for big ambient layers, short hooks and spoken word clips, and dry stems for all the hooks so you can apply your own processing. Bass and synth loops come with the MIDI files included, meaning you can adapt any loop directly to your key and arrangement. All three included project files can be opened in FL Studio, Ableton Live, or Logic Pro to study how a complete melodic techno track is constructed.
- Drum loops: hi-hat, percussion, shaker, top loops
- Drum hits: claps, hats, kicks, snares, toms, fills (long and short)
- Effects: ambiences, drones, down-lifters, impacts, risers, sweeps, uplifters
- Vocal pack: reverse vocals, atmospheres, hooks, spoken words - all with dry stems
- Loops: MIDI included with all bass and synth loops
- Project files: FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro
Voyage is available now at The Producer School. The pack has already been used by producers who have released music on major melodic techno and house labels. If you have questions about the pack, drop a comment on the video and the team will get back to you there.
